Watton-at-Stone Badminton Club
The Badminton Club has been established in the village for many years and continues to provide an opportunity for adults to play the game in a casual and friendly environment.
Games are played in the Community Hall (which has a full-size court marked-out in the Main Hall of the building) every Monday evening, with the exception of Bank Holidays, between 1930 and 2100.
To ensure that players get as many games as possible per session, doubles/mixed doubles are normally played. Although this really does depend on who turns up on the night.
The club tends to attract an interesting mix of players in terms of their age, background and ability. With regard to age, let’s say that some are in the spring and summer of their game whereas others are enjoying their autumn. As for the standard of the games played, this is generally of a good level and an energetic workout is not unusual.
Although the club does not offer formal tuition, because its members have usually played elsewhere in the past, people who are new to the game of Badminton are always welcome to come along and give it a try.
The club block-books the Badminton court on a quarterly basis and its members have the option of paying for their games in different ways. For example, they can pay on a weekly basis or pay in advance for each quarterly session. Each of these options is charged at a slightly different rate.
