Watton Angling Society has been in existence for over 20 years and was originally set up as a village club for the benefit of the residents, past and present, of Watton-at-Stone.

Unfortunately, membership numbers have to be restricted because the society has only one fishery.

Over the past few years it has been difficult to find members from the village and therefore, to keep the society financially viable, people from other local communities have been allowed to join. Although there is now a waiting list, people from the village normally take preference.

The aim of the society is to provide mixed angling in comfortable conditions and pleasant surroundings.

Members take great care to consider the environment and do what they can to encourage wildlife into the sanctuary of their water. Over the years, the society has built up a considerable expertise in fishery management and this is reflected in the, quality of its water.

The society is continually on the lookout for more water that can be developed for its use and for the benefit of the environment.
